Joining the Lebanon Robotics Team

The future is in technology and engineering, namely robotics.  Already robots are have positions in the medical field as surgeons.  In the near future, robots will be utilized in space exploration.  You name it, robots probably will have a part in it, if they don’t already.

The Vision of Lebanon Robotics is to create for students an environment that fosters interest in science, technology, and engineering through real-life situations.  More importantly, students develop as individuals, becoming More responsible and amicable as  a result of student-driven situations and team-work.  Approximately 40 students were involved with the Robotics team in the 2005 season.

Joining the team means joining a highly successful, dedicated crew of students devoted to building the best robot, delivering the best presentations, and promoting BEST Robotics to our full potential every year.  Our tireless mission never rests.  With such ruthless dedication, comes great reward.  The BEST Robotics Team of Lebanon, Missouri sees success in all areas of the competition.  We begin each year with nothing but experience and ambition and find ourselves at the end of the season with more knowledge, more friends, more trophies, and more respect every year.  By joining our team you too can experience the passion shared by our BEST team.  We will be accepting applications soon.

Application

In addition to completing the following information, applicants are expected to compose a brief essay on how and why he or she would be an asset to the Lebanon Robotics Team and include two written recommendations. The Application Committee consisting of team coaches and representatives from all grade levels will then review each application. You must not fail, or be failing, ANY classes.

Robotics Team Expectations

+ An ‘A’ average must be maintained with no grade lower than a B-

+ Behavior must be exceptional in and out of school

+ Must be willing to work long hours after school and some weekends

+ Must be available for weekend trips (often out of state)

+ Must have parent support for long weekends, eating out, rides from practice, etc.

+ Must have exceptional social skills in order to work with teams

+ Must be able to miss school without undue stress (if we are successful at districts)

What are the odds of getting accepted?

As long as You make decent grades, have a good standing at school, and are willing to give 110% to BEST Robotics. there is no need to worry. However, the team can and will remove members of the team who do not work or cannot get along with other people.
