The Lebanon Robotics Team

BEST Robotics Team Committees

Each committee or team has an adult sponsor to supervise or take care of "grown-up" things like driving long distances and reserving buses.  However, all other responsibility is on the student leader of each team and its members.

Please see the lower left panel for related links, such as the 2006 Lebanon BEST team roster.

Administrative Team: Create and collect membership applications, send letters to those who qualify as members, enforce by-laws, solve team issues.  Includes a President presiding over the entire team and two Presidents (often referred to as a Prime Minister) in charge of construction and publicity.

Vice Presidents are elected by their respective presidents.  To ensure a lasting BEST legacy, presidents especially consider candidates in the freshman or sophomore class.  This allows younger members to gain experience as leaders so they can take over responsibilities once the presidents graduate.

Secretaries are optional for all presidents if the president feels he or she needs help typing documents, recording events, or sending out letters.

Construction (Field Event)

Robot Building Team: Brainstorming, 5-10 people build (2 per wheels, body, arm, etc). The following tasks may be performed by either the builders themselves or those who have worked closely with the builders through the course of design and construction: 2 builders add theme decoration/sound, 2 builders take notes for BEST notebook, 2 builders develop documentation with CAD and advanced math analysis.  Everyone takes turns planning and gathering materials.

Obstacle Course Team: (2-4 people depending on size of course)  Construct all or necessary part of the BEST season's obstacle course to practice on (check with your school to find a place to construct).  It is the responsibility of the OC Team to get supplies donated, write thank-you notes, and document the community support.
